Attendance During Hybrid Learning

ATTENDANCE During Hybrid Learning
If you call your student out due to illness, please be specific about the symptom(s) that your child is

experiencing. If you do not specify, we will have to call you back to determine what symptoms your
child has. This is different from past years as we are required by the County of San Diego Health and
Human Services Agency to determine if a student has any COVID-19 symptoms. If your child’s absence is unverified, they will be blocked in Lumisight and unable to come to campus
until the reason for their absence is determined.
Any students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms at school will be sent home immediately. The COVID-19 symptoms include:
 Fever with or without chills/rigors (fever defined as T ≥100.0 that does not resolve within 30

min. without medication)
 Cough
 Shortness of breath
 Nasal congestion/rhinorrhea (runny nose)
 Sore throat
 Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
 Fatigue
 New loss of taste/smell
 Headache

 Muscle or body aches
 Poor feeding or poor appetite

Per the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, if your child has one or more of these
symptoms, they must isolate at home for 10 days. Your child will be blocked in Lumisight and not
allowed on campus for any reason during their isolation time. We highly recommend that any student experiencing symptoms get a COVID-19 PCR test.

If the
student test results are negative, the student may be able to shorten their isolation time and return to
school once 24 hours have passed with no fever and no symptoms. In order to shorten isolation time
due to symptoms, the Health Office must receive proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test. You may email
that proof of negative result to the Health Office at [email protected]

COVID-19 tests are available for free at CSUSM. At this time, CSUSM testing hours are Sun-Thurs 10am-
4pm (Please check website as hours are subject to change). For other free testing sites, please visit

nCoV/testing.html

We understand that this is a very different process than we have had in the past and hope that this
email gives you a better understanding of guidelines that MHHS is required to follow.
