Lora Diaz joined the Mission Hills team in January 2020. She holds an ALA Library Technician Certificate from Palomar College and both IMRA I & II certificates from the SDCOE. Lora is passionate about school library work, especially information literacy, digital citizenship, and technology in the classroom. She enjoys reading, video games, board games, hiking, and oxford commas.

Ms. Genoveva Gomez grew up in a small town near Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico called San Jose Del Castillo. Her family immigrated to San Marcos, Ca when she was 4 years old. She attended Palomar Community College and has worked for San Marcos Unified School District for 16 years. Previously she worked as a photographer for 13 years in a portrait studio. Currently she is also a free-lance portrait photographer.
Ms. Gomez lives in Oceanside with her 2 daughters, whom both attended MHHS. She loves watching and cheering on her daughters, who are active in sports and dancing Mexican Ballet Folklorico. All 3 of them like to travel to Mexico at least once a year. Family and friends are also very important in her life and enjoys every minute she spends with them.
Ms. Gomez likes exploring new things. The most extreme things she has done are zip lined and white water rafted in the Colorado River. She is involved at the Tierra Caliente Academy of Arts, a non-profit organization in Vista. There she participates in Spanish Theater, guitar lessons, dancing in the adult folklorico group and drawing/painting classes. She is also on the executive board for this amazing organization. Other things she enjoys ar hiking, attending parades, plays, cultural events and music concerts. She is always ready and willing to try a new adventure.

Mrs. Schmid was born and raised in Japan, where she earned an AA degree in English from Assumption College, Osaka, Japan. In 2000, she came to the U.S. to continue her English studies and to experience American culture. She obtained an AA degree in Child Development from MiraCosta College, Oceanside and a Master Teacher Certificate for Child Development from College of the Desert, Palm Springs. Mrs. Schmid has worked as Preschool Teacher at MiraCosta College Child Development Center and as an Assistant Teacher at Kokugo-Gakuen a Japanese elementary school in Poway. Mrs. Schmid met her husband in 2002 and has two sons. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. When not at work, she enjoys spending time at the beach, having coffee at local cafes, going to the movies, camping in the mountains and, especially, loves clothes shopping. Mrs. Schmid has been working in the MHHS library since August 2013.

Mrs. Curnow grew up in San Marcos, graduating from San Marcos High School and receiving an AA at Palomar College. She has been married for 30 years to her husband Dave and has 3 children (Matthew, Jessica and Stephanie) who graduated from Mission Hills High School. She began working for SMUSD in 1999, starting at Knob Hill and then moving to MHHS when it opened in 2004 to work in the textbook office. From 2012 to 2014, she took time away from MHHS to be a nanny to twin toddler boys. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing games, hiking, doing jigsaw puzzles, baking, and being on the worship team at Woodland Park Bible Church.
