Peer-to-Peer Counseling Program
Student-Led Support, Connection, and Community
Mission Statement
Our peer-to-peer counseling program is dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive community where students can connect, support, and mentor one another in a judgment-free, safe-space environment. We strive to cultivate understanding through communication, acknowledge each individual's experiences, and enhance mental well-being through compassion, empathic listening, and nurturing support. By educating our peers and providing resources, we aim to break down communication barriers to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage a culture of helping others with openness and respect
-
Our Peer-to-Peer Counseling Program is a student-led initiative that empowers trained student leaders—called Peer Counselors—to support their classmates through everyday challenges. Whether you're dealing with stress, school pressure, social issues, or just need someone to talk to, our peer team is here to listen and support in a safe, non-judgmental space.
- Courses
- Students interested in becoming Peer Counselors take 2 courses
- Students begin with Peer Counseling 1, where they receive training and complete certifications during their first year.
- After successfully completing Peer Counseling 1, students may advance to Peer Counseling 2. These students are paid hourly, and work in the Wellness Center during their assigned class period, providing peer support and contributing to the wellness of our school community.

- Peer Counseling
- Confidential and compassionate conversations with trained student counselors. Our peer counselors are trained in active listening, empathy, confidentiality, and other counseling skills. They’re here to help bridge the gap between students and mental wellness resources.
- Note: Peer Counselors keep conversations confidential, but must involve outside support such as a school counselor, social worker, or administrator if there’s a risk of harm to self or others, abuse, or if the situation is beyond their training.
- Mental Health Awareness Events
We will be providing school-wide activities promoting emotional wellness and community connection during lunch and after school. Dates and locations will be sent out and posted around campus!
- Resource Referrals
Peer counselors can provide guidance on when and how to seek support by connecting them with helpful resources. If a student is facing challenges—whether academic, emotional, or personal— Peer Counselors can lead them to the right support.
