Tryouts: Players will be evaluated during normal practice times from November 10 through November 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Palomar Pool (Palomar facilities are closed on 11/9 but are open on 11/11). JV and Varsity rosters will be finalized after the conclusion of practice on November 13. Players must have athletic clearance on file. One-piece competition-style swimsuit required. Water polo specific suits are recommended but competition-style suits suitable for swim teams are acceptable for practices. Bring a swim cap, goggles, and water. Prior experience is always great but never required.
Practices: Practices begin November 9 for both JV and Varsity. Practices are 4:00 until 6:00 at the Palomar College Pool Monday through Friday each school day unless a game is scheduled. Hours may be altered during non-school days (Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving break, Winter Break, etc.) based on pool availability and Palomar College operating hours on those days.
While practice times may change on non-school dates, please plan on attending practices on the three days leading up to Thanksgiving as well as a majority of the dates during the Winter Break, as we will be competing in regular season games in the week immediately after Thanksgiving as well as during the final week of Winter Break.
Games: Game schedules will be released once finalized and approved at the start of October. Varsity will play between 15 and 28 total regular season games, including two weekend tournaments. JV will expect to play roughly half of the Varsity schedule, dependent upon opponent schools on the Varsity schedule also fielding a JV team, plus one to two weekend tournaments.
Regular season may begin as early as November 14 and will end by February 5, with CIF Playoffs beginning February 8. Playoff details will not be available until the regular season has concluded. Please plan to be flexible with schedules for any playoff games, as we will be receiving details one game at a time following each victory.
